I read a preview in a PC magazine that interviewd the actors and took at look at the how the film is shaping up. It seems it won't be too bad.
Supposedly the Rock likes his computer games and thus wants to do the film justice. The entire cast are aware that most games films are crap and do not want this film to go the same way. From what I read it will be close to alien in feel i.e. very claustraphobic and will deviate from the actual game slightly. This is to be expected however since game and film are different mediums. What I found most interesting however was that the film goes into first person towards the end, replicating the gameplay to a degree. This it seems is rarely used in films. I for one am looking foward to this film.

The trailer I saw yesterday had the chainsaw in it!!!! So it has to be good. Although serenity and that russian horror trilogy look far better

/sigh
I saw the trailer, laughed... and laughed even harder when they showed some scene with a "first person shooter" camera angle.
This movie has already lost my interest.

Yep.. Well not for the whole movie, just for part of it.
I actually like the rock, but i just dont want this to turn into an action hero movie.

I never got in to playing Doom, so I don't really have any good or bad feelings about the movie Doom. I probably won't pay full price to see it, but I'll check it out at the dollar movies for sure.

The Rock..(along side with Keanur Reeves and Christian Slater) do NOT have even that charisma to back up. Hence, their movies seeem just plain empty.
Broken arrow was fun because of travolta..not slater(who waz da hero)..
Reeves..well..Neo wouldnt be The One but for Lawrence Fishburne..did ya se the Rot of Constantine????????)
Bring it on

Wow... Someone just suggested the Kindergarten Cop was a funny movie. The only thing I remember that was entertaining from that movie is that the Governator said "It's not a tumah". And that was just funny because he can't talk.
Arnold Schwarzenegger makes the Rock look like a Shakespearean actor.

Lol the trailer for te game "Jade Empire" looked like a movie lol... and i dont think the rock is a bad roll for this type of roll.... Also, they blamed more on the genetic thingy then religious so they dont offend people in real life..... and the movie looks okay, except the action is in first person view :S

My senses are not as keen as yours - acting disability below a certain level all looks the same to me.
And as much as I love Doom 3 on my PC - I'm going to predict major suckage from the movie. I want it to be good but the trailer looks cheap. I'll bet the game itself has a more engrossing atmosphere than the film.

You might as well ask someone the plot of the last porn film they saw.
